Good luck and Random Acts of kindness
Yesterday I had a couple strokes of good luck. I walked into Borders and sitting there on a display right when I walked in was a book I've been waiting to be released (I lost track of when it was going to be released). 2nd stroke- I got off the train walked the 3-4 blocks down Ashland to North Ave to take the bus to my apartment and there was the bus waiting for me at the light...last time I took it I missed it by 30 secs and the next one (thanks to CTABusTracker) was in 18 mins..so being the impatient person I am...I started walking....I walked for a good 35-40 mins before the bus finally caught up with me (this bus stops EVERY block and takes 25-35 mins to get home normally) about 6 blocks from my house (i have to take the bus about 2.5 miles down W. North Ave)....so it was extremely lucky I didnt miss it again. Random act of kindness- So in this fantastic city of Chicago with its impatient drivers with their loud annoying horns....this story happened.....as I was walking down Ashland I walked past what looked like a water pipe leaking out into the street...Chicago Water was there but hadn't fixed it yet....the water ran down into the street making a puddle about 50ft by 25ft wide. As I walked under the overpass past the puddle I looked over to see a car send a huge splash onto the side walk and then a girl walking on the other side past another puddle started running to get past the puddle. I glanced over my shoulder saw cars coming and started running...waiting for a wave of water to crash over me....no water came I looked over the car driven by a lady had slowed down and she was looking over at me. I smiled and waved thank you (yes there's a thank you wave...psh) and went on my way....These things don't happen very often so thought I'd share it. RL
